M3 Competition G80
The BMW M3 Competition G80 represents the seventh generation of BMW's legendary M3 sports sedan and the first M3 to offer all-wheel drive (xDrive) as an option alongside traditional rear-wheel drive. The Competition variant features the S58 twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine producing 503 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and 479 lb-ft (649 Nm) of torque between 2,750-5,500 rpm in rear-drive models, with xDrive variants rated at 510 horsepower. The S58 incorporates advanced technologies including two mono-scroll turbochargers with electronically controlled wastegates, air-to-water intercooling, high-pressure fuel injection operating above 5,000 psi (345 bar), BMW Valvetronic variable valve timing, and Double-VANOS variable camshaft timing. Competition models utilize 24.7 psi of boost pressure compared to 18.9 psi in standard M3 variants.
Performance is exceptional with 0-60 mph achieved in 3.8 seconds (3.4 seconds for xDrive models), aided by a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission specifically calibrated for M applications. Power delivery is exceptionally linear thanks to the sophisticated engine management, with massive torque available across a wide rpm range. The G80 M3 Competition features adaptive M suspension, carbon-fiber roof for reduced center of gravity, available carbon-ceramic brakes, and an aggressive aerodynamic package including enlarged kidney grilles that enhance cooling for track use. The Competition variant deletes the manual transmission option in favor of the faster-shifting automatic and includes higher spring rates and revised damper tuning for sharper responses. The G80 M3 Competition delivers supercar-level performance in a practical four-door sedan package, maintaining BMW M's reputation for building the ultimate sports sedans.
