981 GT4 Clubsport
The Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 Clubsport is a track-only race car introduced in 2015, derived from the road-going Cayman GT4 but optimized exclusively for competition use. It features the same naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine as its street counterpart, producing 385 horsepower (283 kW) at 7,400 rpm and 420 Nm of torque at 4,750 rpm, delivering power to the rear wheels through a PDK dual-clutch transmission with 7th gear disabled for racing applications. The car includes a mechanical rear-axle locking differential for improved traction and corner exit performance.
Weighing 1,300 kilograms (2,866 pounds), the GT4 Clubsport is 89 pounds lighter than the street GT4, with optional Manthey Racing (MR) package components allowing further weight reduction through polycarbonate windows, carbon fiber doors and panels, and a lithium-ion battery. It shares the lightweight suspension strut front axle and Performance Friction brakes with the Porsche 991 GT3 Cup, featuring 380mm steel brake discs front and rear with 12-position adjustable ABS. Running on forged wheels with Michelin slicks (25/64-18 front, 27/68-18 rear), the Clubsport offered a relatively accessible entry point into Porsche customer racing at $165,000, making it popular for club racing, track days, and gentleman driver competitions worldwide.
