2020: The 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 was introduced, featuring a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine producing 394 hp and 420 Nm of torque. It came standard with a 6-speed manual transmission and included performance features like PASM, a 20-mm lower ride height, and a mechanical limited-slip differential with PTV. Unique styling included black exterior accents, satin-black 20-inch wheels, and Alcantara interior trim.

2021: A 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission option was added, improving 0-100 km/h times to 4.0 seconds. Porsche also updated standard equipment and expanded customization options, including new colors and interior materials.

2022: Minor updates included new exterior paint options and enhancements to the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system, such as wireless Apple CarPlay support. Additional driver assistance features became available as options.

2023: No major changes were made, but Porsche continued to offer new customization options, maintaining the GTS 4.0's appeal as a high-performance roadster with classic driving dynamics.
