2015: The VA generation WRX STI debuted, featuring a 2.5-liter turbocharged EJ257 engine producing 305 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. It came standard with a six-speed manual transmission and Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. The exterior showcased a more aggressive design compared to its predecessor, with a prominent rear wing and hood scoop. Inside, the cabin was upgraded with improved materials and a new infotainment system.

2016: This model year saw minimal changes, with Subaru focusing on refining the existing features. Notably, the 2016 WRX STI gained fluorescent green brake calipers, which became a distinctive feature among the Subaru community.

2017: Subaru introduced the limited-run WRX STI Series.HyperBlue, featuring an exclusive Hyper Blue exterior color, black badging, and black 18-inch alloy wheels. The interior included Hyper Blue stitching on the seats, steering wheel, and shift boot. Production was limited to 700 units for the U.S. market.

2018: The WRX STI received several updates, including a revised front fascia with a larger grille opening for improved cooling. The Brembo braking system was upgraded with larger cross-drilled rotors and six-piston front calipers. The suspension was retuned for enhanced handling, and Recaro front seats became available. Additionally, the engine's output was slightly increased to 310 horsepower.

2019: Subaru released the limited-edition WRX STI S209, the most powerful STI to date, producing 341 horsepower. It featured a larger turbocharger, strengthened internals, and a performance exhaust system. The S209 also included wider fenders, a larger rear wing, and exclusive 19-inch BBS wheels. Only 209 units were produced for the U.S. market.

2020: The WRX STI Series.White was introduced, limited to 500 units. It featured a Ceramic White exterior, matte bronze 19-inch BBS wheels, and Brembo brakes with silver calipers. The suspension was enhanced with Bilstein dampers, and the interior received Ultrasuede-trimmed Recaro seats.

2021: In its final model year, the WRX STI remained largely unchanged as Subaru prepared to transition to the next generation. The EJ257 engine continued to power the vehicle, maintaining its reputation for performance and rally heritage.
