The GT86—lightweight rear-wheel-drive sports car co-developed by Toyota, Subaru, and Scion—has become beloved track day platform for enthusiasts prioritizing driving skill and balance over outright power. With 10 laps CW and 4 laps Extended Course 10B CW, this driver demonstrates focused platform development typical of GT86 enthusiasts who treat the car as driver development tool.
First time at Grattan! I had been meaning to make it out here all last season but it just didn't fit into the schedule. I can definitely see why this track has such a strong reputation. The surface is unlike anything I've driven, the overall rhythm of the track is amazing and the whole thing just has more personality on display than anywhere else I've experienced.
As fun as it is I'm not sure how much of a habit I'll make of running here, between the inconvenience of attending events and how much harder it seems to be on the car than other tracks (my fuel level sensor hasn't been working since my second to last run...), but I definitely left enough time on the table that I'll have to come back and put down a better time.
First lap is my PB and the second lap is a 1:29.875 that I included for the sake of showcasing consistency. Unfortunately, upon review of my data the lap doesn't seem to be quite as consistent as the time might indicate. It looks like I threw away a potential improvement of 4 or 5 tenths due to a slow run through the esses.
All things considered I'm very happy with this PB for my first time running the track. My goal for the day had been a solid 30. I ran 31s for my first two sessions and then had 29s for every session afterward.
This is my first event back on RS4s after finishing off my RT660s at Pitt Race. I honestly feel that I drive considerably better on this tire, despite it being slower. I feel as though I'm extracting a much higher percentage of the RS4s total capability than I ever was able to with the RT660. There's room left to continue improving on the RS4s, but I still need to figure out what's holding me back with the "one lap wonder" 200tw tires.
