May 7, 2023:

Running on new to me Continental tires, and a new setup with a redesigned splitter to reinforce the air dam, and prevent it from folding at speed, I was excited to hit CMP in the hunt for a 1:57 lap time. Luke had previously set the benchmark with his Volvo at 1:57.98, and I was confident I could at least match it. 

Despite picking up 3 to 5mph per corner thanks to the new Contis, I couldn't beat my own personal best of 1:58.093. The hotter weather and higher humidity probably played a role since we were down 4mph in the straights. A few minor errors, chief among them early turn in points, early braking, and 3rd gear not cooperating, cost us momentum in a day where I had to maximize every corner and carry as much speed as possible. 

Despite this, I took some great feedback and data from this weekend. The car feels the best it's ever felt with a neutral balance and a hint of understeer. A complete change from the knife's edge it was on the Direzza ZIII's. Next time we're back at CMP, I'm confident I'll not only be in the 57's, but I will have stepped up into Time Trials.
