A tough weekend at VIR. My practice sessions on Friday were mostly scrapped when my clutch failed two laps into the morning session. Saturday didn't start any better when I clumsily pushed too hard in Hog Pen, lost it and slid across the wet grass and bounced off the tire wall after just 3 laps at speed. This left me farther down the order than where I had hoped with a lot of work to do to get up into any points position. A drafting track that exposes some of my weaknesses, I failed to make much progress early in the race, then get into a groove and move into 19th place only to just get off line in Rollercoaster and give up 4 positions. This includes passing John Green who qualified 8th and joined our group after his own off track excursion. Such is the power of the draft that John struggled to get out of our group of mid pack racers- while he had the pace to gap us, the draft pulled him back lap after lap and he never broke free. Finish 23rd but lots of action in this one.
