Back in 2019, I did my first ever track day at Carolina Motorsports Park and second track day ever after having done the Roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway. At the start of May in 2023, I had done my 7th visit to CMP and 27th overall time on track. 


Things worth noting about the car and track; the car is mostly the same except for aero. It has the same stock NA6 Powertrain with the muffler and intake box being the only notable changes as those were replaced with gifts I had been given. CMP also was repaved in this time period with an average 3-4 second time improvement with the new surface. 


A direct comparison is a time difference of 15.478 seconds, adjusted for the new surface is still 11.478 seconds on the low end of time gained. In 2019 I had fresh Falkens while I am currently on second hand Contis in 2023. The aero has gained me time as well, the air dam and street wang are a relatively low drag, low downforce package that was added to the car late in 2022. This just goes to highlight the massive gains seat time will give you in the same car. Biggest takeaway from this is to invest in yourself and seat time, over expensive upgrade parts.

Tires: 195/60R14 Falken RT615k+ 
Brakes: Stock NA6 brakes w/Carbotech XP8 Pads
Suspension: KYB Adjustable dampers. Front Racing Beat Sway Bar. 
Powertrain: Stock NA6 Engine w/Pod Filter. Open NA6 Differential. 


2023 Set up: 


Tires: 205/50R15 Continental Extreme Contact Force 
Brakes: Stock NA6 brakes w/Carbotech XP8 Pads
Suspension: KYB Adjustable dampers w/ Flyin Miata Lowering Springs. Front Racing Beat Sway Bar. Front Strut Bar
Aero: 9LR Front Air Dam & Street Wáng. NorseSpeed NA Fender Vents and Fender Spacing Kit. 
Powertrain: Stock NA6 Engine w/Pod Filter. Open NA6 Differential.
