2023 M2 with 4,700 miles

Sonoma is repaved and this was its 2nd day of having track cars driving on the surface. The track is easily 2-3 seconds faster and will likely get even faster with more rubber. at least 1 second gained purely from smoothing out the track surface so bumps weren't unsettling the car (or making the driver feel less confident). As with other recent repaves, your tires are very vocal at their limits (which I like), and parts of the track can feel less grippy, but generally the grip is there and it's consistent.

I had an interesting day because I was placed in the fastest run group - which I have never been a part of before. We had full on race cars that have a pace faster than 1:40 and grip around turns like physics didn't exist...which made it a new learning experience for me to be vigilant and more aware than usual. I also wasn't used to passing or being passed aggressively or even having cars right on my bumper so all I saw in the mirror was someone's helmet.

Aside from the new surface I had an updated alignment and new tires. I'd say both are to my liking in so far as they do let me lap consistently for 20 minutes and have a grip level I can manage and also not overwhelm my mild street/track brake pads. The wear looked phenomenal (not sure how much of that is due to the pristine surface or the tire, but the odd characteristic is when the rear-end with this tire is it tends to chatter/skip (similar to severe understeer) when I have an oversteer event. Will see how these hold up but I really pushed them pretty hard; perhaps too hard for day 1.
