Salinas Speedway is a motorsports complex in operation from 1982 in Salinas, on the southern shore of Puerto Rico, on a 1-hour road trip away across the island from San Juan. It is the place to go for the racing enthusiasts of the Caribbean Island, with a 2-mile (3.22 km) racetrack where the average speed can get to an impressive 101 mph (162 km/h) on drag racing competitions. Salinas Speedway is the only racetrack in the Caribbean approved by the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), the main drag racing governing body of the United States. With a tropical marine climate, Puerto Rico only has two distinct seasons: the rainy season from April to November and the dry season from December to March. 

There are four possible configurations for racing in Salinas Speedway: a 1.8-mile road course, a 1.2-mile road course, a 1/4-mile drag racing strip, and a 1/2-mile drag racing strip. Road racing competitions in Salinas are part of a local series by the Club de Corredores de Circuitos de Puerto Rico, CCCPR (Circuit Racers Club of Puerto Rico). The track features a long straightaway on the northern side that ends abruptly on a 90-degrees corner at turn number 3. Then comes a segment of turns with varying angles until turn ten that leads into another straightaway. The last turn of the track connects the southern side with the main straight, closing the loop with 11 turns.
