We all know no two tracks are the same. Palmer is certainly unique. It's carved right into Whiskey Hill and this means there are a lot of elevation changes. One thing I took for granted is visibility; almost every major turn is blind. You can see right through the turns for the most part on other tracks. Palmer makes you feel like you are on a roller coaster. Every turn just keeps going so you have to be patient to turn in as most corners are late apex turns. Major downside to Palmer is run off space as there really isn't any. On most tracks I push the limits of the car early on and happily put 2 or 4 wheels off seeing what is possible, and what isn't. You do not want to do that at Palmer as you will end up in the tire wall that hugs a concrete barrier with a100 foot drop off behind it!

The day started off chilly in the 50's, with a high of 63F. The issue was it was cloudy all day with a light drizzle during the drivers meeting. The track was cold and it sure felt that way as I had my rear end come out in a few turns once I started to really push. Due to the blind turns, chilly weather, and overall "safety" of this track; I really took my time pushing the car to the limit. Each session I was able to continue scrubbing off more time. On my last session of the day, I ran my best time of 1:46.55. I really wish I had a second day at Palmer to really tie things together. I'm confident there are a few more seconds left in this car on this track. Palmer is definitely a track I will be coming back to again next season.
