This is my second time at Spring Mountain and I came with the intent on beating the previous record held by Regan Steedman (2:36.87). It ended up being a pretty intense weekend competing with Eric Oviatt (another GT5 driver, 996 C2S). Both of us managed to beat her record on Saturday but Eric did a 2:35.248 while I managed a 2:36.476.
On Sunday morning I switched from my Federal practice tires to my Advan A052 and immediately dropped 3 seconds. Eric also dropped down into the 2:33's but I was able to push further in the day and pulled off a few 2:32.xx laps. It was a blast competing with him and I'm excited for the competition for the rest of the season.
I apologize for the lack of the track map and the weird start/end location, I need to update my AIM track map database.
I managed to pull a few 2:32.xx laps but this one happens to be the fastest. I am definitely not happy with it, there are so many places to pick up more time... I have to clean up a few downshifts and stop lifting in a couple turns!
The car is also going to go through quite a few upgrades over the next two months (full cage, custom dash and PDM, more aggressive front aero and rear wing, LSD). The weather this weekend was great temps wise but the wind didn't help... I think if I put everything together (and throw on the aforementioned upgrades) and put on a fresh set of tires a 2:29.xx lap time is on the table!
