Saturday Feb 22, 2025 SCCA Group 3 race at Eagles Canyon Raceway. Group 3 includes Formula Atlantic (FA), Formula Enterprises (FE2), and Formula X (FX). I was running in the FX class, the least powerful of the 3 classes. Qualified 1st(out of 6) in FX by 0.793 seconds, and 8 overall (of 25 entries). All cars ahead at start were in the other two classes. First other FX in my class shows up in frame at the 3:55 mark (yellow car hitting my car) during lap 3. Race went full yellow after lap 5. During the restart, one final lap, an FA car (FMzR) powered by me and went deep into Turn 1, and I had to check up which allowed the second place FX to get closer. Later into that lap, going into Turn 11, the yellow FX got by me and going into the final turn I got inside going into the turn, but was unable to keep the lead going to the checkered flag. But at least I didn’t hit him and gave him room. Crossed the finish line and finished in 2nd place 0.072 seconds behind (and 11 out of 25 overall). Had it not been for the FMzR holding me up on the restart, and having to lift off of the throttle on the exit of Turn 10 to keep from hitting the same car, I could have won the race. Oh well. Ifs and buts.
