Second time back at One Raceway since its reopening.
Round 2 of the NSW supersprint series will be back here in a weeks time so i wanted to get at least one practice day in beforehand and their mid week open track day was the perfect opportunity. With a low number of cars, great conditions and plenty of track time, the day was perfect for testing and PBs!
After last time being a bit of a sh*t fight and a non optimal time being registered i was keen to see what the car was actually capable of. Straight off the bat in session 1 i recorded a 1:06.5 absolutely obliterating my old PB of 1:08.3 (not surprising) and put me on par with my old layout PB (surprising). People had mentioned the track had got quicker over the past few months but this was a big jump!
Session 2 i tried a couple different lines and brake points just seeing how late i could push the braking into corners 2 and 11/12 and a 1:06.06 was achieved. So close to a 1:05.x! This was the new goal!
Session 3 was held right around midday and not ideal conditions anymore but still i pushed and achieved not 1, not 2 but 3 1:06.0x laps! 1:06.03 was my fastest but unfortunately my go pro is once again playing up and i had a 5sec section mid lap of just black screen. The hero 3+ has been going strong for many years but i think it might be time for an upgrade.
Still this 1:06.05 is a decent lap. I can see a few places to fix up and the optimal of 1:05.87 should be easy to hit. That will be my goal for the supersprint this weekend. Lets see how far we can push it!
