Watch the hypercar’s impressive run.
Supercar maker Koenigsegg has beat another record with its relatively comfortable grand tourer, Regera.
If you're still unfamiliar with the hypercar, which features - among active bodywork and a powerful engine output - more grand-tourer comforts such as electric seats and Apple Carplay, it is a mid-engine successor to the CCX and CCXR from Koenigsegg and features power outputs from 960 hp all the way to more than 1300 hp in the ultimate edition.As Christian von Koenigsegg says in this video, they are on the 'mini Nurburgring' on a cold day, with a drying track and a temperature of about 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
A quick tour of the car in the pit lanes and next the Le Mans racer/test driver takes to the track, based in Sweden, to see what kind of lap times it can pull on the undulating course.

This car, apart from being a hypercar with a few creature comforts, also features a hybrid system and three motors so there are no gear changes to be heard while it is racing.

According to Koenigsegg, the car features a Koenigsegg Direct Drive system that removes the standard gearbox and uses a twin-turbo V8 with a trio of auxiliary electric motors and braking regen. This, alongside a level of comfort and accessories which are not available in the archetypal supercar, let alone hypercar.

Taking into account the spec of the car and the lack of a traditional gearbox, plus the weight of the hybrid system, the lap time further hammers home Koenigsegg's engineering accomplishment with the Regera: 1:03.84.

The next-fastest time listed in the video was by the McLaren Senna (P15) at 1:04.50. That's another well done to Koenigsegg, then.
