Max Emilian Verstappen is a Belgian-Dutch racing driver currently competing in Formula One, under the Dutch flag, with Red Bull Racing. At the 2015 Australian Grand Prix, when he was aged 17 years, 166 days, he became the youngest driver to compete in Formula One.
Max Verstappen comfortably mastered the changeable conditions in a rainy German GP. The Red Bull driver kept a cool head in a chaotic race much affected by rain, avoided making any big mistakes and even posted the DHL Fastest Lap in the end.
Verstappen on slicks pulled away from the rest of the field over the final laps even though parts of the track were still wet until the end of the race. On his way to a comfortable victory over Sebastian Vettel, he finally set the DHL Fastest Lap on Lap 61 of 64 with a 1:16.645.
“Once you are ahead you can take a few less risks and everything feels a bit nicer,” said Verstappen afterwards. “The conditions were very tricky and it was all about survival. It was definitely not an easy race and very tricky with the changing conditions.”
Red Bull’s Team Principal Christian Horner added: “Max kept his head in tricky conditions. He had great pace when he needed it and made that win happen.”
