The S2000 is back!

2 years after the rear knuckle failure I finally got the car back up and running and headed to Honda Nationals 2024 at Winton Raceway in Victoria. A great event run by great people that everyone in the Australian Honda scene should try and attend at some point.

I headed down on the Friday morning and did the afternoon sessions of the test and tune practice day to blow out the cobwebs and become accustomed to the S2000 once again. I used the first session to bed in the new brake pads and see the balance of the car. After a couple of laps in the second session I was back on par with my street tyre PB from 2019 and I knew the competition day on the Saturday was going to be quick!

Saturday came around with sunny skies (mostly), cooler weather and I was ready to PB. Over the day my push laps in each session came to 33.1, 32.9, 33.0, 33.1 and 33.0 so myself and the car are very consistent! There's definitely more time in it as is as I felt my driving and lines were better in the later sessions but by that time it had warmed up a bit too much. Just means I need to come back more often to try and push and get to 31s!

In the end the lap here in the video was good enough for 1st place RWD street tyre, 9th place overall, fastest S2000 and is now my fastest lap at Winton regardless of tyre.

This is a quick lap upload without data overlay as I was using the racebox for the first time and I have yet to learn to export that data and use race render to overlay. That video will come soon.
