Trackday 21 in the G87 and back at Sonoma after a month. No changes in configuration. Just more seat time with the major changes: aero, tires, CS Tune, pads. Last time at Sonoma I was consistently doing consistent mid 50's but did have enough clean laps to get sub-150s. I moved up to Red group this time and is definitely nice to get more clean laps in. I finally got under 1.50 a few laps with my new PB was 1.49.00. Chasing and being chased by some fast drivers really does help push you!
I've got a lot of room to grow with this setup. No need for more car mods for now. Really need DRIVER mods...time for a few HPDE days with a coach.
Notes:
- T1/T2: I'm carrying more speed through T1 and sometimes too much speed, so giving a quick stab at brakes transitioning out of T1 when wheels straighten a bit to quickly shave off speed to help get all the way over to the left for best setup for T2.
- T7 I'm tracking out wider to be able to carry more speed through and exiting the turn just enough to stop downshifting to 2nd
- Continental ExtremeContact Force tires have impressive wear endurance. 5 trackdays in and still have a few more i think, unless they end heat cycling out. However, I'm really left wanting for more max grip. When these wear out, I may try out another tire that still has a little less treadwear durability but more grip.
- Pagid RSL29s also have amazing wear durability. After 6 trackdays, the front pads still look 3/4 new and rears about a little more than half. BUT the tradeoff with max stopping power is definitely unnerving especially when charging into T7 and T11. I'll be looking for another set of pads with. more stopping power, but not wear as fast as the EBC RP-X's I had previously....and not cost me $1100-$1200 for a set a pads.
- The M2 CS Tune's MDM changes to allow more slip is nice I can work with it for a little while longer but I think I'm really pushing sooner than I thought I would.
- M2 CS Tune quick feedback:
- Power gains on the manual are slight, nothing like what's been reported about the automatic. JB4 Map 1 is noticeably quicker
- Noticable (but not huge...maybe 20%) improvement in chassis and steering feel with this tune
Great weekend overall and thanks to @speedsftrackevents8380 for another great trackday!
