Nankang CRS 245/40R17
Enkei RPF1 17x9 ET45 +5mm spacer
Endless ME20/CC-Rg Brake Pads
Rocky start to the build on this new platform with the first mod, if you can even call it a mod that is. According to Apex wheels' fitment design 17x9 ET42 for a stock car, the above Enkei setup should be very similar to those specs from Apex. An alignment was done with camber bolts to "optimize" this setup because I was told "stock is shit" but apparently this didn't account for clearance, as I discovered on track that the car wouldn't turn under hard compression with the steering wheel kicking back. After inspection it is confirmed that the sidewall is hitting the spring from tire flex which supposedly is "acceptable" and that the alignment specs are within stock ranges so nothing wrong was done. The CRS may run wider than other 245 tire brands but I would like to think that a performance shop who took the liberty to "fine tune" the alignment instead of just leaving it at stock would be able to tell whether the fitment would work or not. The car couldn't turn properly and I could have hit the wall, but I guess this is what they call no harm no foul?
Also not sure why the Garmin is picking up the check point in the middle of the track but despite how the car wouldn't turn properly, the ZD8 has already beat the #Fast328 PB with so much more time to be had. The car definitely has a 39 in it and maybe even a 38. I'll be putting the stock bolts back in resetting the factory alignment to see whether that solves the clearance issue and if the CRS really is that much oversized. Anyone else experiencing fitment issues please leave a comment below.
