Kinnekulle Ring is a permanent road course circuit located near Götene, Sweden, close to Lake Vänern. The circuit was built in 1969 on land where shale oil extraction had previously created several mine shafts, with slag heaps forming the undulating contours on which the circuit was constructed. The track measures 2.072 kilometers (1.287 miles) in length and is notable for containing no straights to speak of, only numerous corners, making it particularly challenging for drivers.
The short, swooping circuit is formed around a natural bowl that places a premium on handling and traction rather than engine power. The track features a unique swooping section which passes under a bridge, runs around a loop, and then passes back under the same bridge, creating a distinctive bottle-neck configuration. In 1973, Kinnekulle Ring hosted a round of the European Formula 2 Championship, its only international event. Today, the circuit is used for national and club racing, rallycross events, and driver training programs, maintaining its position as a unique and technical motorsport venue in Sweden.
