A few days before this event I was cleaning my wheels and noticed that juuuuust the inside inch or so of my Bridgestone RE71R's was completely done. Scrambling for a solution, I mounted a set of old crusty Hoosier SM7 take-offs I had in storage. Boy was that a mistake! They had plenty of wear left, but were totally inconsistent throughout the day. NOT something you want at a track that is as high-stakes as Sonoma. T10 is not the place I want to feel my left rear losing grip suddenly. I still managed to have a ton of fun, but my best time was a 2:05.xx. A full second slower than my PB on much cheaper, but newer and more consistent tires.
