Back to Thunderhill West! It's been a minute since I did just West CCW. But glad to be back at THill! (Cafe is the best out of all the NorCal tracks :) )
Here are my best sessions from the weekend that ended with a best of 1.28.78. Sessions 1 and 3 weren't captured so don't know if I got any better there and I had passengers the last 2 sessions
After destroying my last set of brakes at Laguna a few weeks ago I picked up some EBC RP-X pads and installed the previous weekend. The first session was mainly to get a good heat cycle and cooldown in them and the braking felt much more consistent after session 2. These are supposed to be the most aggressive track brakes EBC has. I originally wanted the less extreme RP-1s but they couldn’t get shipped to me in time so I went with the RPXs. These are definitely more powerful then the stock pads and EBC Yellows I was running on street. It feels like these pads can overwhelm the stock size PS4S tires so I just need to get used to them. I actually may try setting the M2 brake setting to Comfort to see if that helps regulate the high initial bite.
Other than that I’m still running PS4S on stock wheels, a little extra camber, and midpipe. BMS CAI is new but not sure if I noticed any significant difference in power or power delivery. I have a JB4 and flex fuel kit waiting for me to install but going to wait until after Sonoma on 5/10 to install. Won’t need the extra power there, but would be nice to have in place before Laguna Seca on 5/23.
I didn’t stay out the full time each session as I wanted to preserve tires to hopefully last thru Sonoma and Laguna this month. I have a new set of VTForged 19x10.5 square setup in build and going to run 295/30/19s all around and since my POS NWCarbon front lip is trashed just after a few months, I’ll eventually get a VerusEng front splitter also.
I had a a buddy of mine @kevingrivich3219 come for his first track day and he rode with me in session 5. But he’s already a seasoned scca autoxer so he’ll be up to speed real quick.
Also made some friends and had a future G87owner ride with me for session 4.
All in all, good weekend and thanks to @speedsftrackevents8380 for another great event!
