I finally got a chance to get out to Sonoma Raceway with proper alignment, FP lowering springs, and the square setup with 305 Cup2 tires at all 4 corners. I never got a full clean lap where I didn't have to slow down for traffic but I was still able to set a new Personal Best of 1:55.1! This was on worn out Cup 2's that are getting close to the end of their life and I still beat my old PB by nearly 3 seconds. I use TrackAddict synced up to an external GPS running 10hz and it said that my theoretical best could have been a 1:54.3 if I combined my best sectors from both of the laps in this video. There were a few places where I missed an apex or could have gotten back on the throttle sooner so I'm sure I could get in the 1:53 range, especially on fresh rubber. We'll see what happens next time I get out there.
Oh, and while it felt REALLLLLY good to pass the McLaren 570S in a lowly little Mustang, the driver was brand new and it was their first time at Sonoma Raceway. I spoke with them after and they were really nice and down to earth. Props on tracking that beast! Gotta start somewhere and I'd much rather see them here than putt-putting at 10mph down the boulevard.
