M135i F21
The BMW M135i F21 (2012-2015, three-door hatchback version) represents the first M Performance variant of BMW's compact 1 Series hatchback. The M135i features the N55 3.0-liter single-turbo inline-six engine producing 320 horsepower (235 kW) at 5,800-6,000 rpm and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque from 1,300-4,500 rpm. Power is delivered through either a 6-speed manual transmission or 8-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels.
Performance figures include 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds (manual) or 4.6 seconds (automatic) with a top speed electronically limited to 155 mph. The M135i features sport-tuned suspension, M Sport brakes, 18-inch wheels, M aerodynamic package, M Sport steering, and weighs approximately 3,220 pounds. The N55 inline-six delivers smooth turbo power with BMW's characteristic inline-six refinement and strong low-end torque. The M135i offers genuine M Performance driving dynamics in a practical hot hatch package, combining rear-wheel-drive layout (unique in the premium hot hatch segment), turbocharged inline-six power, and the versatility of a three-door or five-door hatchback body style. The F21 M135i represents the pinnacle of the rear-wheel-drive 1 Series hatchback before BMW transitioned to front-wheel-drive UKL platform for subsequent generations, making it highly valued by enthusiasts as the last rear-drive BMW hot hatch offering the traditional BMW driving experience with compact dimensions, manual transmission availability, and practical hatchback utility.
