GT-R SpecV
The Nissan GT-R R35 SpecV, introduced in 2009, represents the first limited-edition variant of the R35 generation with only 110 examples produced: 77 for Japan, 24 for Europe, 1 for the UK, 7 for the Middle East, and one prototype. The SpecV achieved remarkable weight reduction of 60 kg over the standard GT-R, reaching 1,680 kg (3,704 lbs) through extensive use of lightweight materials including Recaro carbon fiber reclinable bucket seats (saving 6 kg each), rear seat deletion with quilted fabric replacement, carbon fiber trim inside and out, carbon ceramic brakes with massive 380mm Brembo discs, titanium exhaust, 20-inch Nismo wheels, and reworked suspension. The 3.8-liter twin-turbo VR38DETT V6 produces 479 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 447 lb-ft of torque at 3,500-5,000 rpm from new turbochargers.
Performance is exceptional: 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds, quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds, and a top speed of 193 mph (310 km/h), making it the lightest and fastest road-going R35 variant. A high gear boost controller allows temporary boost pressure increases for overtaking. The SpecV was available in special LAC Black Opal color and commanded significant premium over standard GT-R pricing. As the most exclusive and track-focused R35 variant before the NISMO editions, the SpecV demonstrated Nissan commitment to extracting maximum performance from the GT-R platform through systematic weight reduction and chassis optimization rather than simply adding more power, establishing it as one of the most collectible R35 models.
