My only goals this weekend was to drive the car home with no damage and beat my previous s2000 PB of 1:48.8. I got 2nd place in Max5 and a new PB of 1:46.6 Saturday morning in practice & scored 1:46.7 in the Sunday morning TA session.
I usually post my fast lap but this time I want to post an embarrassing one. I didnt get much off track practice with the manual again and it shows. All weekend I showed braking zone sloppiness. In this example, I overshot the apex of T11, turned into an out-of-pocket downshift in T12 to a mid corner 2nd-to-5th upshift in T13 showing my dependance on the muscle memory to paddle shift Ive become. My lack of confidence in heel-toe extended my brake zones and bled any time I built up(see 2018 video for reference). Old SRF brake fluid only let me get 2 laps in before the brake pedal turned into a sponge. The good of the weekend was that I car got home in one piece despite my truck/trailer rental cancelling on me the day before and I beat my previous PB. My takeaway is I need to work on my heel toe and flush my brakes with fresh fluid so I can focus on whittling down those braking zones.
This was the first time back at CMP in the s2000 since the big off in 2018.
Next big TT event will be Pitt Race.
