This is the first of two races I did with VRG at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix at Pitt Race. This is a really awesome and challenging track, 2.78 miles with 19 turns. There are also great track facilities. The car performed great all weekend (huge thanks to Coventry Auto in Connecticut!) It was a great weekend of racing and hanging out with friends!
I qualified in 4th with a time of 2:11.4 in the "Tin Tops" under 2 liters group. This is a fast and competitive group of sedan race cars, golfs, BMW 2002's, Datsun 510's, Alfa GTV's, etc. This is a little shy of my personal best here, but it was a very warm weekend and the track was pretty greasy.
The second place qualifier didn't make the start, so I effectively started in 3rd. I lost a couple positions on the first lap but then fought back to a final spot of 4th behind Vince Vaccaro (Alfa Romeo GTV), Stephan Shiposh (Mk1 Rabbit) and Jason Sukey (Triumph GT6). It is hard to tell in this video how close it was, but I was being chased the entire time by Scott Janzen in another Triumph GT6. A really solid drive that I'm happy with, even if I can see room for improvement (this is always haha).
The race start is at 4:50.
