About Four months late but here it is! I finally found sometime to stitch together the GoPro footage and finally upload it. This race was the Looong Race at Black Hawk Farms Raceway back in October of 2024.
Well, what a weekend to say the very least. After not racing for the entire year and being deprived of the need for speed, we finally made it out to the Race Track and made it happen!
My brother and I were able to make it out to Blackhawk Saturday to compete in the Looong Race as well as the Spec Miata Challenge Race. I drove the #152 aka “Pepé Le Pew” and my brother Connor drove the #86 rental car from Advance Autosports.
Saturday Morning started off nice a chilly like. With it being just 40 degrees outside, it made for a nice fall morning with the race cars. I did my first laps of the year in our 20 minute practice session where I did really well with time. My goal for the practice was just to get comfortable being back in the seat.
Qualifying however could have maybe gone a little bit better. It was a 25 minute session but I seemed to struggle with being able to gain time and keep it throughout the whole lap. I ended up P4 in SM to start the race.
The race came around and boy did it feel long (50 Laps ≈80 minutes). I started P4 in SM where I ended up having a pretty decent start with battling a Beamer three wide into turn 1. After that it was just picking off one car at a time to pass as well as catching and passing lapped cars. After about 3/4 of the way through the race I was able to catch up and pass the leader about a lap before he pitted do to a mechanical issue (I believe). After that I remained in 1st place until the end! My fastest lap of the race was a 01:22:928.
Over all I found it to be a very excellent, enjoyable, and successful weekend. I was very happy with the result, especially after not racing for an entire 12 months! Being able to come away with some pretty sweet hardware was a pretty cool feeling. What made this weekend even better was just being out at the track relaxing, hanging out with family and friends whom came to spectate. Special Thanks to all who making racing such as blast!
