1:41.5 in my first day at Road Atlanta. I learned the track in the 5 green laps we had between practice and qual that morning. I got separated from P1 and P2 trying to work up to a good pace in the opening laps and worked to reel them in in the back half of the race, but caught slow traffic from other classes which meant not many clean laps. Even my fastest lap here was compromised in the last turn having to lift to soot past a miata.
This was the last race weekend for Spec3 on the Toyo RR and the Toyo R will likely bring lap times another second. A 1:38 or 1:39 on a good weather day should totally be possible.
As for my lap. I can spot at least half a second to a full second of lost lap time over the lap:
Turn 1 - left some on the table braking early and over slowing. I could trail brake deeper and carry more speed for sure. Not trying to push it with that E30 parked in the wall
Turn 3 - Jumping the curb on the inside is not the fastest way, but it's the easiest and the tenth or so you lose there isn't worth worrying about in a race. The penalty for trying to not jump it and messing up the next turn is too high
Turn 6, smoother inputs and honestly I think I can turn the wheel even more and get on the throttle sooner. I would need to shuffle steer to do it because of the stock non M E36 rack we use and that may not be easy to do considering the inputs immediately preceding it. You can see the orange Spec3 gets out of the turn better so there's definitely room for improvement.
Turn 10a and 10b is self explanatory. I had to check up to time the pass on the Miata, then lift to go two wide for a bit. Easily 0.3 to half a second lost there alone
