Summer is officially here in Texas, and the Miata is back with fresh Cup 2 tires!

It took me a while to find a good time to mount them - been busy with life lately. And since they are brand new day 1 tires, I decided to give them a try with the tire pressure specified by Michelin, which is at 29psi cold.

I did around 3 laps in the morning with the Michelin-spec tire pressure, and the car feels very vague at the limit. The low tire pressure made the tires feel greasy all the time (seems they can hold a lot more slip angles than I'm used to), and combined with my current setting for XIDA coilovers, the Michelin-spec tire pressure makes the chassis significantly squishy and unpredictable due to the movements. It could be just me but honestly, I prefer the Cup2s with at least 35psi, and I usually set them to 38psi hot to prolong the life of the tire shoulders.

On the "new" (2nd track day) G-Loc brake pads, honestly, they are a step up the Porterfield R4. They are able to maintain decent torque for more laps. However, even though G-Loc acclaims them to uphold extreme temperatures, I can still make them fade on the 3/4th lap going 10/10ths. When these are done, I will go straight to G-Loc's most aggressive pads to see whether it's even possible to not have any fade with my current setup.

The hot climate definitely makes the engine power suffer, and also takes a toll on the driver. Hence the slow(er) lap times in this video. However, the experience remains very exciting and I can't wait to be back out there in the Miata!

Bonus content - If you watch closely, there's a tractor on the field besides the track doing some farm work :D
