Not everyone get's to see a McLaren in person, but WAY more rare is to see a Senna edition! And to make it even better, the driver has a British accent! He wasn't ready to "send it" until he got some heat in his tires. Meanwhile David, Zack and I had tires that were ready to go out of the gate, so by the Triple-D's we're all bunched up not quite sure how behave around a car that costs more than all the cars combined on the track!

He let us pass heading in to West Ten and we proceeded into the sub 1:40's. I was on a flyer and excited to be on the tails of both Zack and David who are exceptional drivers - and fast!

It happens very fast.

West Ten is the last turn - a hairpin, that leads you back on the front straightaway. It's tricky, but I've done it hundreds of times and I'm pretty quick through this particular turn. A combination of sharing the track with a McLaren Senna, being on the heels of Zach and David... All I know is I applied just a little too much brake pedal pressure - the fronts locked up - I have my ABS off (you can see the smoke in the rearview mirror) and it was either force a late turn and drop two or go all four off - kill my lap time - load up my tires with rocks, etc., etc., etc. - OR - go straight and out through the "cattle shoot" and down pit lane and try it again...

I basically tied my prior 1:39 lap time in the next few laps which isn't too shabby, but my data acquistion system says I was on a 1:38-something which would have been a new PB...

It all came down to just ounces of too much brake pedal pressure. By the time I released brake pressure enough to allow my front tires to rotate, I was too far to make the turn-in...

BUT... it was a fun lap chasing David and Zach!
