Finally had a chance to run a baseline time at Waterford! The first day this season was nothing but rain, and the Fit was down with a blown engine for the second. Last Friday was my first session on the new engine out at Gingerman, during which my calipers failed. Through some good luck with shipping and the help of a friend we were able to get the car put together just in time to run yesterday. After all of that work it was looking like we were set to have another rainy day, but we lucked out and it held off until right after the end of the rental.
The car definitely has more pace in it but I'm pretty satisfied with this time as a starting point. This was also on throwaway brake pads and old practice tires, so it'll be interesting to see how much of a difference fresh parts make eventually. For the time being I have to save the nice stuff for competition. I know where I can stand to make up time and I have plenty left to learn, looking forward to working on it more!
