MX-5 Miata Shinsen Edition
The 2003 Mazda MX-5 Miata Shinsen Edition, meaning "new and fresh" in Japanese, represents a limited-production NB-generation Miata with only 1,451 units produced (originally planned for 1,500). Powered by the standard 1.8-liter DOHC inline-four rated at 142 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque, the Shinsen featured a five-speed manual transmission paired with a Tochigi-Fuji limited-slip differential for enhanced traction and driving dynamics. The exclusive Titanium Gray Metallic paint combined with a dark-blue cloth top created a distinctive color combination unavailable on any other Miata variant.
The Shinsen package included comprehensive equipment: heated glass rear window, fog lights, front air dam, power antenna, painted mirror caps, dark-blue cloth bucket seats, two-tone color-keyed leather-wrapped shift knob, dark-blue door inserts, embroidered floor mats, aluminum interior trim, and the Convenience Package adding tweeters, power door locks, cruise control, and remote keyless entry. Priced at 3,773 including transportation, the Shinsen Edition offered excellent value as a well-equipped, limited-production variant with unique styling details. As one of the many special edition Miatas from the NB generation, the Shinsen has become increasingly collectible among enthusiasts for its exclusive color combination, comprehensive equipment, and limited production numbers.
