Our third round of the 2025 Caterham Academy championship, was also our second race. With over 30 cars on track at the UK's fastest circuit, and the sun shining, it made for a great weekend.
Having qualified 8th I went backwards a couple of places after too much caution through the first complex of lap 1 (cars feel much closer than they really are when in the car - lots to learn). Going wide coming out of Seagrave didn't help either (no caution excuses here, this was just user error...).
I then kept my nose clean and had a relatively sedentary race, picking places off as opportunities unfolded in front of me.
On the final lap heading into the second complex for the last time, just before the finish line, I had moved up to fifth however some minor contact gave me an overspeed going into this chicane. I kept it within track limits but scrubbed a lot of speed which meant I fell back to 7th between the corner exit and the finish line - Caterham racing really is very close!
Oh, I and I also forgot to start my timer 🤦♂️
Onwards to the next round at Anglesey, hopefully I can put some learnings from Thruxton into practice.
