February 18, 2023: 

I was experimenting with camera placements, and ended up doing my best lap with the GoPro on the roll bar. As such, the color of the track surface and glare from the sun make this a hard video to watch. Much less study and learn from. 

On Sunday, I was on course to set a high 1:57 with the usual helmet mounted POV, but going deep into T11 with the wheel slightly turned sent me into the runoff backwards. Thus this lap ended up being my best, and the fastest I have turned at CMP. 

Having ditched the 245 RS4's I was the third owner of in favor of 205 Direzza Z3's, I took the first session of the day to get used to and learn the limits of the Dunlops I had just bought for $100. Having been kept outside without cover for a year prior to me buying them, they took all session to get hot and they weren't particularly grippy. Deciding to overdrive the corners in the out-lap to build heat, I quickly found some pace while also finding understeer. Though the difference in weight between the 245 RS4s and the 205 Z3s was noticeable. 

I was still hesitant as the tires were giving me a lot of understeer so I dragged the brake a bit over the Kink on this lap. In later sessions I was taking the Kink flat with a top speed of 103mph. As the car sits, it can do a mid 1:57. Next time out, we know the tire and their limit as well as what the car is capable of, and we'll be hunting that 1:57. Luke's best in his higher optimized Volvo 850 ran a low 1:57 his last time out. Should make for a good scrap come May.
