First proposed in 1998 with plans for a 1.8-mile course, the circuit eventually opened as a 2.49-kilometer, 11-turn layout (8 right-handers and 3 left-handers) with a track width of 12 meters. Named after the nearby Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage archaeological site, the circuit operates in a clockwise direction and hosts various motorsport activities including Time Attack Sicily competitions, track days for cars and motorcycles, and driver training programs.
