Sokol

Sokol International Racetrack is a world-class motorsport facility located near the village of Mezhdurechenskoe in Almaty, Kazakhstan, approximately 76 kilometers from Almaty along the Almaty-Astana highway. Designed by renowned track architect Hermann Tilke, the circuit holds an FIA Grade 2 rating and covers an area of more than 200 hectares. The main circuit measures 4.495 kilometers (2.793 miles) with 12 turns - 8 right-hand turns and 4 left-hand turns. The track features four high-speed sections where vehicles can reach speeds of up to 350 km/h.

The motorsport complex offers multiple racing disciplines including circuit racing, a 1.4-kilometer karting track, motocross, autocross, supermoto, drift, and drag racing facilities. Sokol International Racetrack was announced to host the Kazakhstan motorcycle Grand Prix from 2023 until at least 2028, marking a significant milestone for Central Asian motorsport. However, the 2024 MotoGP event was postponed and then cancelled due to flooding damage. The facility represents Kazakhstan's ambition to become a major player in international motorsport, with aspirations to potentially host Formula 1 events in the future.
