What a drive! WOW! I had a serious party with the C8 at the limit. The LG guys really dialed in the car.
We were on narrow 265/315 R7s and were doing sway bar testing. This thing was just flying! First lap was a high 2:27, then low 2:27, did a cool down lap...then 2:26.9. Had a 2:26.5 rolling lap in there but was still thrilled with the lap time...especially in a 1ZR seat, stock belts, 95 degrees and narrow Hoosiers. Holding myself in is the hardest part while trying to go faster and faster. Racing seats and harnesses are worth a ton of time at COTA! The car also weighs about 3700lbs with me in it. So, go drive a 3200lbs mid engine car and then this one, it’s not the same by any means. Actually, the C8 turns into the corner better than most mid engine cars. Doesn’t display the “standard” low speed understeer that most mid engine platforms struggle with. It’s just a weird drive but I’m starting to like it more and more! It was my first time in a C8 at COTA and only did 3 on laps.
Barely cracked 150mph on the back straight...
Also, the C8 displays high speed oversteer and randomly will throw the rear end around on you BUT now that you know this; just be ready for it, be a step ahead of it and you’ll be just fine!
