Round 3 of NZ Superlap 2022/23, at Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon.
Saturday session 3, I decided probably an hour before the session that the weather was looking good and time for the slicks, for Unlimited class, little did I know the rain was on its way. About 15 minutes before heading out for the third session it started to drizzle and it hung around for the rest of the day. I didn't have time to change so just had to live with it. Initially the tyres did not enjoy it and grip was rather lacking. The drizzle was fairly constant, but not enough to remove the dry line. The tyres slowly come up to temp and pressure, and I slowly got more comfortable with the level of grip. Although still mindful that there was no point pushing, so I was braking much earlier than I really needed to, but I was playing this one safe for once. Its a rather uncomfortable feeling firing into a corner, on slicks, with rain on your windscreen, not knowing if its been able to settle in the braking zone or not.
Thanks to Kerri and Kaz for running the show. Barry at MRPLTD and Blair at Ladds Forestry for their support.
