After a series of reconfigurations and upgrades, one testing event at Ridge, and a slight exterior make-over, finally got the car ready for @MiataReunion 2024 at Sonoma! Being my first ever trackday there, I did not want to give myself too much pressure in terms of laptime expectations. Hence, I wasn't even using my phone as live timing display. This track is well-known for its challenges which demand absolute respect (especially for a rusty guy), otherwise, dire consequences often await as a result of negligence. So, throughout the whole day, I was trying to be extra mindful and upped my pace gradually, never exceeding 8.5/10s I'd say. After 3 sessions and the lunch break, I reviewed my Racebox data and I had a 1: 51 lap with a passenger. At that moment, I knew there was definitely a good chance I can get close to 1: 50. I went out for the 4th - it felt decent and quicker on track overall. Came back to pits and I was delighted that I got a few 1: 49's in a row. It was a bit of a surprise, but I'll take it! Then, I decided to call it a day even though there was still at least one session left. Rather end it on a good note and return without over-driving beyond my abilities and familiarity.

For sure, the more I analyze the data, the more I discover I had a lot of time left on the table. There is no need to get hasty however - the CM-1027 is my life-long project and I shall return to this awesome track to improve both myself and the car to lay down a better lap down the road. 🤙🏻

Again, I would like to thank everyone who helped me with the 2024 phase of upgrades for the car (or even just moral support)! Couldn't have done it by myself, y'all know who you are. Last but not least, all the awesome people behind the Miata Reunion event. We wouldn't be able to enjoy such an amazing weekend without the hard work they've put into it! 🙏🏻
