The BMW Z4 GT3 features P65B44 aluminum-block 4.4-liter V8 producing 515 horsepower (384 kW) at 8,750 rpm maximum engine speed, replacing production Z4 E89 inline-six with M3-derived V8 configuration through X-Trac sequential six-speed manual transmission at approximately 1,190 kg weight. Carbon fiber reinforced plastic bodywork including front splitter, fender winglets, rear diffuser and double-deck rear wing, plus 15-point titanium cage and 100-liter fuel capacity create FIA GT3-specification racing platform.
GT3-class competition success includes 2010 Dubai 24 Hour GT3 victory in debut season, second place 2011 24 Hours of Spa, and multiple FIA GT3 Championship and Blancpain Endurance Series victories establishing Z4 GT3 among most successful customer racing platforms of early 2010s period. The combination of reliable M3-derived V8 powerplant, professional engineering support from BMW Motorsport, and competitive pricing strategy enabled privateer team success across worldwide GT3 racing categories before eventual replacement by M6 GT3 successor.
