996.2 Carrera 4S
The Porsche 996.2 Carrera 4S (2002-2004) represents the facelifted all-wheel-drive variant combining Carrera 4 drivetrain with wider Turbo body. The Carrera 4S features a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated flat-six producing 315 horsepower (235 kW) at 6,800 rpm and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque at 4,250 rpm. Power is delivered through a 6-speed manual or 5-speed Tiptronic automatic to Porsche's all-wheel-drive system. Performance includes 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds (manual) with top speed of 174 mph. The 4S features wider Turbo body providing aggressive stance, bi-xenon headlights, larger brakes, 18-inch Turbo-look wheels, and sport suspension. Weighing approximately 3,240 pounds, the 4S offers all-weather capability with classic naturally aspirated flat-six character. The 996.2 generation introduced revised headlight design addressing polarizing "fried egg" styling of early 996 models. The Carrera 4S combines all-wheel-drive traction, Turbo aesthetics, and daily usability in an accessible package.
