Mustang EcoBoost PP
The Ford Mustang EcoBoost 2.3L High Performance Package, introduced for the 2020 model year, represents Ford effort to deliver legitimate performance credentials to the turbocharged four-cylinder Mustang platform. The package features a larger 63mm twin-scroll turbocharger (versus the standard 57mm unit) borrowed from the Focus RS, along with an upgraded radiator and cooling system, producing 332 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque from the 2.3-liter inline-four EcoBoost engine. Built in Valencia, Spain and oriented 90 degrees to fit the rear-drive architecture, the engine delivers 0-60 mph acceleration in approximately 4.5 seconds with the 10-speed automatic transmission or just under 5 seconds with the six-speed manual, while achieving a factory-claimed top speed of 155 mph.
The High Performance Package adds significant chassis and brake upgrades including larger four-piston fixed Brembo calipers with 13.9-inch front rotors from the Mustang GT, a 32mm front anti-roll bar and 21.7mm rear bar, 3.55:1 limited-slip rear axle, and 19x9-inch aluminum wheels with 255/40 summer tires providing excellent grip with the platform 53/47 front/rear weight distribution. An optional EcoBoost Handling Package (,995) adds MagneRide adaptive dampers and upgraded wheel/tire combinations. Priced at ,995 over the base EcoBoost, the High Performance Package delivers near-GT performance with superior fuel economy and provides a compelling alternative for enthusiasts seeking turbocharged efficiency with genuine muscle car capability.
