F83 M4
The BMW F83 M4 Convertible (2014-2020) represents the first standalone M4 convertible model, continuing the M3 Convertible tradition under the new M4 designation for coupe and convertible models. The F83 M4 features the S55 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six engine producing 425 horsepower (317 kW) at 5,500-7,300 rpm and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque from 1,850-5,500 rpm in standard form, with Competition Package models producing 444 horsepower. Power is delivered through either a 6-speed manual transmission or 7-speed M-DCT dual-clutch transmission to the rear wheels.
Performance figures include 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds (DCT) with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (174 mph with M Driver's Package). The F83 M4 includes comprehensive M-performance technology including adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers, M differential lock, multiple driving modes, M-specific steering and brakes, retractable hardtop that operates in 20 seconds, and weighs approximately 4,055 pounds. The added weight and structural reinforcements required for the convertible configuration result in slightly reduced performance compared to the F82 coupe. Despite this, the F83 offers the exhilarating combination of twin-turbo inline-six power, open-air driving, and M-car performance. The Competition Package adds power, improved suspension tuning, and enhanced styling. The F83 M4 provides the ultimate open-air driving experience with M-division performance, combining turbocharged power, sophisticated chassis dynamics, and convertible versatility in a daily-drivable package.
