I'm still catching up on sleep after One Lap of America 2025, but wanted to share my best driving from the week-plus-long event... Grattan Raceway in Belding, Michigan.
This little track is best described as "a hoot"... the potato-resolution factory-option in-car PDR (performance data recorder) video documents my two flying laps during One Lap (all three laps count, including the one from a standing start). I've never driven this track before IRL, but I had practice it a bit in sim on Asetto Corsa before this event. Also, I did walk the track that morning to get a lay of the land, get a sense of the camber, the surface grip, the blind rises, etc.
I'd not done very well in One Lap 2025 up until this track event on day seven... my best finish previous to Grattan was managing 23rd out of 82 at the autocross event at Grissom AFB, despite having nearly three decades of experience at the tragically dumb "sport" of driving around traffic cones, against other drivers who have wisely chosen not to focus on such endeavors for most of their lives.
ANYHOO I'm proud of my 10th-place drive with a 1:25.204 in the morning session at Grattan in my 2019 Camaro ZL1 1LE (tires are 340 treadwear Continental ECS02 high performance all season tires, not 200TW autox/track tires... 325/30-19 F&R). Please ignore the massive chicken lift/brake at the blind approach to the last right turn before the front straight (visions of going four-off at VIR earlier that week along with sugar plums still dancing in my brain).
