My first GT4 RS First Track Weekend! 2:04 best lap at
Thunderhill East with the GGR region of Porsche Club (PCA)
My goal this weekend was to safely build confidence in the GT4 RS on-track, and to learn/reinforce good track etiquette.
I typically do Autocross, and have never tracked this car. I have some track experience 10-12 years ago, but only 3-4 track events in the interim. Much faster car than what I tracked a decade ago.
I'm still very much in the mode of building confidence in this car and in myself (especially in the fast sweepers and blind turns!).
Traffic aside, I am still making big gains (seconds) between sessions and days... as I digest my experience and put in the rep's.This video was in a combined blue/green group, still a fair bit of traffic at times, but good space at the beginning, if you grid up well.
Car: the GT4 RS has always felt amazing to me, and only more so as I gained confidence in it. It is more lively and more to "manage" than a 911, yet incredibly capable.
Tires: Vitour P1’s 255/295, 200TW, targeted 31psi hot. They were great! Mentioning this because not a lot of people have experience with them yet at the time of this video.
Competent and predictable, no complaints! (...admittedly I am not the best judge with limited track experience and none on this car, though I'd know it if they were NOT good! I report more once I AX with them, I have a better calibration of performance there) They lasted through 280 track miles with more left, I feel that I had most grip day 2.
Camera/Data/Video Tools:
Main video is from AIM (Solo2 DL + SmartyCam3 HD), wired into CAN.
Overlay video (PIP) is from Porsche Track Precision App.
This is the first time I used the AIM system in the RS, looks like I may do well to remove my makeshift Polarizer filter from the SmartyCam, not needed in this car
