Unplugged Performance's remarkable Tesla Model S Plaid race car, aptly named "Dark Helmet," has once again proven its prowess on the track, setting new records at Gridlife Streets of Willow. This groundbreaking performance, piloted by Unplugged Performance development driver Craig Coker, has made waves in the motorsports world.

Dark Helmet's lightning-fast lap time of 1:11.14 has established it as the fastest electric vehicle (EV) and the fastest all-wheel-drive (AWD) car to ever circle the Streets of Willow circuit. This is also just .3 seconds off the overall production car record held by a Corvette with more power and half the weight of Dark Helmet.

This momentous achievement comes hot on the heels of Dark Helmet's official record at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb earlier this year, where it claimed the title of the fastest modified EV.

Dark Helmet’s achievements are a testament to the Unplugged Performance modifications performed on the heavy 5000 lb race car, and their dedication to performance applies beyond the race track. Many of the performance parts featured on Dark Helmet, including suspension, wheels, and brake upgrades, are available for purchase at our shop, allowing Tesla enthusiasts to experience the same level of performance and precision that Dark Helmet exemplifies.

Unplugged Performance’s collaboration with Yokohama Tires further demonstrates their commitment to performance and safety as they continue to redefine the possibilities of EV performance.

Looking forward to Dark Helmet returning to the track for Gridlife Laguna at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca on October 20-22nd to close out the Gridlife Festival Tour.
