X1 E84
The BMW X1 E84, produced from 2009 to 2015, represents BMW first entry into the subcompact crossover SUV segment. Built on the same platform as the E90 3 Series with an identical 2,760mm (108.7-inch) wheelbase, the E84 offered both rear-wheel drive (sDrive) and all-wheel drive (xDrive) configurations with a 40/60 rear-bias. Engine options ranged from a 114 BHP 2.0-liter inline-4 turbodiesel to a 254 BHP 3.0-liter inline-6 petrol engine, spanning displacement from 1,995 cc to 2,996 cc with power outputs between 141 HP and 258 PS across various markets.
Measuring 175.35 inches in length, 70.79 inches in width, and 60.83 inches in height, the X1 offered practical versatility with 420 liters of cargo volume expandable to 1,350 liters with the 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats. Standard equipment included dual-zone climate control, parking sensors, 17-inch alloy wheels, and regenerative braking. The X1 proved successful with over 275,000 units sold before receiving a facelift at the 2012 New York International Auto Show, establishing BMW credentials in the premium compact crossover market segment.
