599XX EVO
The Ferrari 599XX Evoluzione, introduced in 2011, represents the ultimate evolution of Ferrari track-only XX programme based on the 599 GTB Fiorano. Ferrari enhanced the original 599XX with 20 CV additional power, bringing the 6.0-liter V12 output to 750 CV (740 hp) at 9,000 rpm with 700 Nm of torque through adoption of side exhausts and engine optimization. Performance is extraordinary: Ferrari test driver Raffaele De Simone achieved 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds without launch control, with a redline-limited top speed of 315 km/h (196 mph). The Evoluzione laps Fiorano in just 1:15, 2 seconds quicker than the standard 599XX and 9 seconds faster than the 599 GTO.
Weight reduction was critical, with the Evo weighing 35 kg (77 lb) less than the standard 599XX through extensive use of lightweight materials. The Evoluzione introduced Formula 1-derived DRS (Drag Reduction System) with an active rear wing, generating total downforce of 330 kg at 200 km/h with flaps open and 440 kg in closed configuration, representing over 400% more downforce than the road-going GT. Of the 44 599XX units built from 2009 to 2012, only 29 received the Evoluzione upgrade package priced at 50,000 USD on top of the base 599XX cost, making it one of the most exclusive and capable track weapons in Ferrari history, available only to select XX programme clients.
