This car will always be a knife in a gun fight as far as Time Attack goes, but this is our home track and we showed up swinging. With a test day prior to the main event, we tried new spring rates, a different alignment and instantly dropped our PB from 1:48.80 to 1:48.5 on very used SC3R scrubs. On Friday, we made even more changes to the SUB2-spec Nitron R3's and Zebulon aero. We didn't test the car again that day, but felt confident it was going to be in the right window for Saturday morning. We mounted a fresh sticker set of 285/30/18 Supercar 3R's and went out in the morning session. Usually the tires need an out lap and a full medium pace hot lap to get in their window, and this is that lap... The tires turned on faster than expected and I progressively added commitment to feel out the grip before pushing even harder on the following lap. Unfortunately, we caught some insane traffic at the back of the pack on our next lap. We were 1 sec down on this 47.8 up to Phil Hill, and then had to get around 3 cars. Still, we managed a 1:48.5 on that lap. The theoretical there is a 45.9.... which would have secured 2nd in class and 2nd overall. Grip wasn't there on Sunday for us and the tires just didn't feel as good, but we backed up the 47 multiple times over the weekend. Till next time...
